City Beet Farm Tour & Potluck

City Beet Farm Tour & Potluck

Thanks to everyone who came out to tour of City Beet Farm this month in collaboration with Young Agrarians! The goal of the tours and potlucks is to bring folks involved and interested in urban farming together to meet each other and get an inside peek at urban farms in the city.

After finding their farm legs during an organic farm internship on Reroot Organic Farm in Harriston, Ontario, Ruth and Katie launched their first season of their peddle-powered operation in Vancouver. They run a CSA and grow on converted lawns in Riley Park/Mount Pleasant neighbourhoods.

Despite the rain we got to take a close look at how Ruth and Katie are growing in back and front yards, carefully trellising tomatoes, and tending to rows of cabbage and collards. Luckily, we found a dry gathering place under a pine tree in Mount Pleasant park to have our grand potluck feast.

Stay tuned for our next tour + potluck!
